Program Overview

The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (P.B.C.) program prepares educators with a state credential to take and pass the TESOL Praxis exam, which in Maryland enables them to add the TESOL Certificate to their existing credential. Students may begin a master鈥檚 degree from the College of Education in TESOL or another area with the 4-course PBC and then continue to the M.Ed. in an on-campus program. TESOL is an area of critical teacher shortage in Maryland and across the country鈥搊ur program better prepares educators to support multilingual students, particularly those in mainstream educational settings.
