Program Overview

The Creative Initiatives in Teacher Education (CITE) is a graduate-level teacher preparation program in collaboration with the ��Ů, College Park (UMD) and the Maryland State Department of Education. Successful program completion results in a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) degree and eligibility for a Maryland teaching certificate in grades 1 through 6.

Identify characteristics of effective schools, teachers, classrooms, and teaching strategies.
Apply research-based strategies in establishing personal relationships, building a positive classroom climate, and managing classroom tasks
Employ high-leverage practices fundamental to teaching to assist students in learning important content and support their social and emotional development.
Identify and practice research-based teaching strategies through small and large group instructional sessions.
Create and implement engaging targeted lesson plans focused on curriculum indicators and expectations, including student outcome identification, modeling, guided practice, independent practice, and assessment.
Incorporate effective educational technology to enhance instruction for student learning.

Demonstrated completion of MSDE required prerequisite courses for credit in math, English, science, and social sciences
