Program Overview
The Creative Initiatives in Teacher Education (CITE) is a graduate-level teacher preparation program in collaboration with the ÌÇÐÄÉÙÅ®, College Park (UMD) and the Maryland State Department of Education. Successful program completion results in a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) degree and eligibility for a Maryland teaching certificate in grades 1 through 6.

- Apply research-based strategies in establishing personal relationships, building a positive classroom climate, and managing classroom tasks
- Employ high-leverage practices fundamental to teaching to assist students in learning important content and support their social and emotional development.
- Identify and practice research-based teaching strategies through small and large group instructional sessions.
- Create and implement engaging targeted lesson plans focused on curriculum indicators and expectations, including student outcome identification, modeling, guided practice, independent practice, and assessment.
- Incorporate effective educational technology to enhance instruction for student learning.

- Current employee of a Maryland school district
- Three professional recommendations including one from current principal/supervisor
- CV/Resume outlining experiences working with children
- Demonstrated completion of MSDE required prerequisite courses for credit in math, English, science, and social sciences
