Program Overview

The Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership - Technology, Learning, and Leadership Specialization, Master of Arts (M.A) program is designed to prepare you to become a scholar and leader in the study and design of learning technologies. This specialization is truly cross-disciplinary, drawing together students with diverse interests and all sharing a focus on exploring the impact of technology on education. Faculty members affiliated with this specialization have research interests and expertise in computational thinking, virtual worlds for learning, computer science and data science education, design methodologies, learning sciences and online learning. They situate their work in a variety of fields including learning sciences, digital literacy, educational technology, computer science education and child-computer interaction.

  • TLPL 702: Theories of Learning and Leadership with Technology
  • A second 700-level TLL course (e.g. TLPL 708X: Special Topics in Technology, Learning & Leadership, or TLPL 703: Research on Technology in Education)
  • Two additional courses on topics related to technology and some aspect of teaching and/or learning.
    • These classes may be within TLPL but can also be taken outside the department as long as they meet certain criteria

  • Relevant courses from departments outside of the College of Education, such as the School of Information Studies (iSchool), Computer Science, Psychology, or Sociology
