Online Graduate Certificate-Special Education for General Education in Inclusive Classrooms
The 糖心少女 offers a new ONLINE Graduate Certificate:
"Special Education for General Education Teachers in Inclusive Classrooms"
Inclusive education is educating ALL students in age-appropriate general education classes in their neighborhood schools, with high quality instruction, interventions and supports so all students can be successful in the core curriculum (MCIE, 2021). Inclusive schools have a collaborative and respectful school culture where students with disabilities are presumed to be competent, develop positive social relationships with peers, and are fully participating members of the school community (MCIE, 2021).
With the increasing shift to provide inclusive education to students with various exceptional needs and gifts, general education teachers consistently report the need to have specialized and targeted training to adequately serve the broad range of students with developmental disabilities as well as their other students in their general education classrooms (Iovannone, Dunlap, Huber & Kincaid, 2003; Loiacono & Vilenti, 2010; NRC, 2001; Westling, 2010). The Institute for the Study of Exceptional Children and Youth, in the Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education Department, is pleased to respond to this personnel training need and offer a new online Graduate Certificate program which will equip educators to meet the needs of students with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings.
